Following a series of impactful art installations, Porsche continues its ‘Art of Dreams’ initiative, collaborating with acclaimed artist Red Hong Yi for Art SG 2025 in Singapore. This year’s unveiling, titled ‘The Red Thread: Past, Present, Future’, delves into the captivating world of color, specifically drawing inspiration from the iconic Porsche Red.
The multi-layered installation is a visual journey through time and identity, primarily expressed through a spectrum of hues. The artwork’s central panels showcase an impressive array of 60 shades of Porsche red, directly sourced from the brand’s exclusive Paint to Sample range. This selection is particularly meaningful, subtly commemorating Singapore’s 60th year of independence. Within this vibrant tapestry, viewers can identify historic shades like Peru Red, a classic from the 1970s, the universally recognized Guards Red, and the contemporary Carmine Red, each representing a chapter in Porsche’s ongoing legacy of design and performance. This deliberate use of Porsche red shades symbolizes the unbroken thread of craftsmanship and relentless innovation synonymous with Porsche.
Positioned between mirrored surfaces, ‘The Red Thread’ is designed to create an illusion of infinity, mirroring the continuous and unpredictable nature of life itself. This reflective space invites visitors to become part of the artwork, blurring the lines between observer and participant. Within this infinite expanse of color and reflection, the artist has subtly embedded a ‘Red Thread’ – an outline of the legendary Porsche 911 flyline, rendered in, of course, Porsche red.
Yannick Ott, Director Marketing Porsche Asia Pacific, highlights the significance of this artistic partnership: “This collaboration with Red Hong Yi underscores our commitment to pushing creative boundaries. We are proud to be part of Singapore Art Week through Art SG 2025.” He further elaborates on the shared vision with the artist: “Our discussions with Red revealed a mutual fascination with time and the interplay between past, present, and future. Porsche red, in its various iterations over the decades, perfectly encapsulates this evolution while remaining instantly recognizable.”
Red Hong Yi shares her enthusiasm for the project: “Porsche’s rich heritage and meticulous attention to detail resonate deeply with my artistic approach. Together, we’ve conceived an artwork that speaks to the essence of time – how our past shapes our present and ignites our future. The Porsche red palette serves as a powerful visual language for this concept.”
‘The Red Thread: Past, Present, Future’ is on display at Art SG at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre from January 17th to 19th, 2025. Porsche, as the official automotive partner of Art SG, will also extend the artistic experience to the Porsche Studio Singapore. A notable event will be the unveiling of a unique 911 Dakar art car by automotive artist Chris Dunlop, presented in Singapore for the first time during the weekend of January 18th and 19th. Additionally, a ‘Driving Tomorrow’ panel discussion at the Studio will feature both Red Hong Yi and Chris Dunlop, further exploring the intersection of art, automotive innovation, and the enduring appeal of Porsche red.
