Nissan has officially launched the highly anticipated Fairlady Z NISMO and the model year 2024 Fairlady Z in Japan, signaling a new chapter in the iconic Z lineage. This announcement underscores Nissan’s unwavering commitment to “innovation for excitement,” a core tenet of their Nissan Ambition 2030 vision. Adding to the excitement, the Nissan Genuine Accessory Package, inspired by the Fairlady Z Customized Edition showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023, is slated for release in late October.
The spotlight shines brightest on the Fairlady Z NISMO, a vehicle meticulously engineered for enhanced performance. Nissan’s expert tuning has elevated the engine output to an impressive 309 kW (420 PS), a notable increase from the standard 298 kW (405 PS). Torque also sees a significant boost, climbing to 520 N·m (53.0 kgf·m) from 475 N·m (48.4 kgf·m). These power enhancements are crucial for drivers seeking a more thrilling driving experience in the Nismo Z.
Further refining the driving dynamics, the transmission shift response and durability have been optimized, resulting in quicker and more responsive gear changes. Complementing the powertrain upgrades, torsional rigidity of both the steering and body has been improved. Chassis and traction control are fine-tuned to empower drivers with enhanced line traceability, while exclusive NISMO brakes ensure robust stopping power for demanding sports driving scenarios. Drivers can tailor their experience with three distinct drive modes, including the exclusive SPORT+ mode, unique to the nismo z, allowing for customized performance based on driving conditions.
The nismo z distinguishes itself with an exclusive exterior design, meticulously crafted for both aesthetics and aerodynamic performance. The front grille, bumpers (front and rear), fender moldings, side sill protectors, rear spoiler, and rear LED fog lamps are all bespoke NISMO components. This comprehensive approach to design results in a low center of gravity stance, projecting an image of speed and agility. Aerodynamic enhancements are not just visual; they contribute to increased downforce and overall aerodynamic efficiency for the nismo z.
A key design highlight is the front grille mesh, adopting a honeycomb pattern with reduced airflow resistance, a design element shared with the 2024 Nissan GT-R. This feature works in synergy with the wind-skimming air guide slope to maximize engine cooling. The wheels are newly designed 19-inch forged aluminum alloys, finished in glossy black. Their 9-radial spoke design achieves a balance of rigidity and weight reduction, even with wider rims, enhancing both performance and the visual appeal of the nismo z.
Inside the nismo z, the interior builds upon the Fairlady Z’s sporty foundation, incorporating color and material combinations designed to minimize distractions and heighten the driving focus. Exclusive Recaro sports seats, specifically developed for NISMO, combine black perforated Alcantara*3 with leather accents. This material choice provides both excellent grip and a premium feel, crucial for performance driving in the nismo z.
The nismo z palette includes five body colors, with the striking two-tone Steel Grey/Super Black reserved exclusively for the NISMO variant, further emphasizing its unique status. Enthusiasts in the U.S. market can anticipate the arrival of the Nissan Z NISMO this fall, continuing the global rollout of this performance-oriented model.
The standard Fairlady Z, initially launched in August 2022, is also receiving updates for the 2024 model year in Japan. Known for its dynamic driving characteristics and responsive performance, the 2024 models now feature Amazon Alexa*4 integration across all grades, adding a layer of modern connectivity. A new exterior color, 432 Orange, pays homage to the classic Z 432 (S30), while blue joins the interior color options as a special choice for the Version T/ST grade, offering increased personalization for the Fairlady Z.
Alongside the new models, Nissan is introducing the Fairlady Z Customized Edition as a Genuine Accessory Package. Two package levels are available: an entry-level package focusing on the exterior with a unique front bumper featuring the Fairlady Z emblem, grille, and carbon rear spoiler; and a full package that replicates the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 show car. The full package includes exclusive 19-inch aluminum wheels, a distinctive emblem, hood decals, and side body stickers, allowing owners to personalize their Fairlady Z with unique styling elements.
