Participating in the auction of vehicles from the esteemed Mullin Automotive Museum collection requires careful attention to the Conditions of Sale, which outline the complete terms and conditions. This guide highlights essential aspects for prospective bidders, ensuring a smooth and informed auction experience. Please refer to the detailed Conditions of Sale for comprehensive information. Remember, all Lots are sold “AS IS,” intended for collectors, and may require significant restoration for operational use, especially given their history of static display at the Mullin Museum.
How to Register to Bid
To participate in the auction, potential bidders must complete a Bidder Registration Application or a Telephone and Absentee Bidder Registration Application. You can register through several convenient methods:
- Mail: Submit your application via postal service.
- Email: Send your application electronically to [email protected].
- Fax: Fax your application to 310.526.6594.
- On-site: Register in person at any Gooding & Company auction event.
- Online: Register digitally through the bidding site at bid.goodingco.com or via Gooding’s mobile apps for iOS and Android.
Once your application is received, a Gooding representative will contact you to finalize your bidder registration. The registration process necessitates completing the application forms, providing identification such as a Driver’s License or Passport (or corporate documentation for company registrations), and furnishing an original Bank Letter of Guarantee or another acceptable form of proof of funds. This Guarantee, the specific amount and form of which is determined by Gooding at their discretion, ensures your capacity to pay for potential purchases.
By registering, prospective bidders authorize Gooding to verify their financial information to confirm their ability to make purchases. To ensure timely processing, please submit your completed bidder registration form and Guarantee at least 24 hours before the auction session you intend to participate in begins. For further details on bidding and registration, please visit goodingco.com/register or contact [email protected] via email.
Inspecting Mullin Museum Collection Lots
Prior to bidding on any lot from the Mullin Museum collection, bidders are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity for thorough inspection. As detailed in the Conditions of Sale, it is the bidder’s sole responsibility to conduct an independent examination of any Lot and all related aspects before placing a bid. This is particularly crucial for vehicles originating from long-term static display, such as those from the Mullin Automotive Museum.

Given that the lots in this auction have been housed in static storage at the Mullin Automotive Museum for an extended period, they are unlikely to be in operational condition. These vehicles will require mechanical servicing and, in some instances, considerable restoration work before they can be driven. To arrange an inspection of any Lot, including assistance with moving a vehicle or raising it for an underside inspection, please reach out to [email protected]. This pre-auction due diligence is vital to ensure bidder satisfaction and understanding of the condition of these unique pieces of automotive history from the Mullin Museum.
Bidding at the Auction
While on-site registration to bid in the room is available before and during viewing hours, completing your registration prior to arriving at the auction venue is highly recommended. Registered bidders, once their registration is accepted by Gooding, can collect their bidder paddles at the Registration Desk located at the front of the auction venue during viewing hours and the Auction itself.
Each bidder is accountable for the use of their assigned bidder paddle for identification purposes. It’s important to note that each registered bidder is personally liable for the full Purchase Price if their paddle is used to bid on any lot, regardless of whether the bidding is done by the registered bidder or another individual. By entering the auction site, every bidder, Buyer, attendee, or participant agrees to adhere to all policies and procedures communicated by Gooding, including any posted signage related to safety, health, or other requirements.
Additional Costs: Buyer’s Premium and Taxes
Beyond the final bid price, purchasers are responsible for additional fees. A Buyer’s Premium is applied to the final bid price, payable to Gooding. For Vehicle Lots at this auction, the Buyer’s Premium structure is as follows:
- For final bid prices up to $250,000, a Buyer’s Premium of 12% of the final bid price will be applied.
- For final bid prices exceeding $250,000, the Buyer’s Premium is 12% on the initial $250,000 and 10% on the remaining balance of the final bid price.
- For Automobilia Lots, a Buyer’s Premium of 25% of the final bid price is applicable.
Buyers are also responsible for all relevant state and local sales and/or use taxes, duties, tariffs, and license fees associated with any purchased lot. If Gooding is legally obligated to collect sales tax, it will be detailed on the invoice. In cases where Gooding is not required to collect sales tax, the Buyer may be directly responsible for remitting these taxes to the relevant state or local tax authority. Consulting with a tax advisor is recommended for detailed guidance on tax obligations.
Payment and Lot Removal
Full payment of the Purchase Price is required to be received by Gooding no later than 5:00pm Pacific Time on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Buyers must arrange for immediate collection and transportation of all purchased lots. All lots must be removed from the auction site at the Buyer’s risk and expense by 5:00pm Pacific Time on Friday, May 3, 2024. For assistance with removal arrangements, please contact [email protected].

Gooding & Company provides referrals for transportation, although the Buyer is ultimately responsible for these arrangements. For domestic vehicle transport, Intercity Lines, Inc. (Jim Bergeron 800.221.3936, [email protected]) is recommended. For international transportation needs, Cosdel International Transportation (Jenny Rixford 415.777.2000, [email protected]) is a suggested contact. Lots not removed by the deadline will incur a storage fee of up to $50 per day, in addition to a removal fee from the auction site. By agreeing to these terms, Buyers grant Gooding irrevocable power of attorney to remove and store purchased lots at a third-party warehouse at the Buyer’s risk and expense.
