Mercedes Meszaros is rapidly making her mark on the entertainment industry, securing acting roles from Los Angeles to Budapest and building a substantial international fanbase.

Celeb Mix had the opportunity to interview Mercedes Meszaros, delving into her acting journey and her experiences on ‘The Boys.’

What sparked your passion for acting, Mercedes?

I believe the desire to be in entertainment was always there, fueled by watching my music and TV idols. But a specific moment truly solidified it for me. Like many 90s kids, I grew up immersed in the world of Harry Potter. I started reading the first book around age 10, and I was instantly captivated. This was during the time when the books were still being written.

Reading was something I enjoyed as a child, but Harry Potter sparked an unprecedented obsession. The world J.K. Rowling created felt incredibly real to me and my friends. I was completely invested emotionally and mentally.

So, naturally, when the first movie was released in theaters, I had to see it.

Sitting in that Budapest cinema, I was utterly amazed. The Cineplex in Budapest looked exactly as I had imagined it from the books. While other aspects of the movie differed from my imagination, it didn’t matter! It was still fascinating! It was the same narrative, the same characters, and mostly the same dialogue. Witnessing something that had previously only existed in my imagination being brought to life by kids my age was truly incredible.

That was the defining moment. That’s what I knew I wanted to pursue. I wanted to do what those young actors were doing.

In ‘The Boys,’ you portrayed “X-Ray Supe.” Can you share some insights into your character and how you personally connect with her?

Playing X-RAY Supe in ‘The Boys’ was an incredible experience. It was my first major acting role, and quite the introduction! I even had a face cast mask made – they molded my face for three hours for it, which was actually quite a unique experience. The costume process also took weeks of preparation.

Was it challenging to embody the mindset and personality of X-Ray Supe?

I immersed myself in research, delving into comic books and magazines. I visited those classic nerdy comic stores and bought everything related to the original ‘The Boys’ comics. Finding specific details about X-RAY and her background proved difficult initially, but eventually, I pieced it together. Every supe has a backstory, and I would love to explore hers further in the future.

In your opinion, what holds more weight: a talented director or a compelling script?

That’s a really tough question. Ideally, you need both, but if I had to choose, I’d lean towards a good script. I’ve worked with directors who were demanding and pushed me beyond my comfort zone, but ultimately it was for the betterment of the project. A great director can only do so much with a weak script; it’s incredibly challenging to make it resonate on camera. But when you have both a strong script and a great director, the potential is limitless.

Who were some of your acting inspirations growing up, and are there any actors you dream of working with in the future, Mercedes Meszaros?

Angelina Jolie has always been a huge inspiration. I see her as almost superhuman. Her dedication to humanitarian work is incredible. She became the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2012 after witnessing global humanitarian crises while filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia. Her bravery is truly admirable; she’s visited extremely dangerous areas as a Goodwill Ambassador, including Sudan during intense conflict, Chad during its civil war, and Iraq and Libya during the Libyan Revolution, risking her own life. It’s rare to find someone as committed to humanitarian causes as she is, especially amongst actors.

How do you personally define success, Mercedes?

For me, success is having the time and financial freedom to spend with your loved ones. That’s my ultimate measure of success.

You are very active on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Which platform do you prefer for sharing content and connecting with your fans?

Definitely TikTok. I use it for more comedic and satirical content. I tend to share more work-related updates and professional content on Instagram.

Can you tell us about a viral video you created, Mercedes Meszaros?

I enjoy creating funny and educational videos. I started a niche highlighting the differences between European and American cultures, showcasing how Americans and Europeans approach everyday things differently. That particular video resonated widely and achieved over 20 million views.

Where do you find inspiration for your content?

My mom is a big source of inspiration! Talking to her on the phone and observing her different perspectives and habits always gives me ideas and makes me laugh.

What can your fans anticipate from you in the coming year?
