A Look at Mercedes Formula 1 Drivers and Their Racing History

Mercedes’ modern Formula 1 journey began in 2010, marking the return of a works team and setting the stage for incredible success. The initial buzz was immense, fueled by Michael Schumacher’s sensational comeback. Early seasons saw Nico Rosberg securing podiums and a breakthrough win in China in 2012. The arrival of Lewis Hamilton in 2013 alongside Rosberg ignited epic battles and a period of Mercedes dominance, making them a powerhouse in the modern F1 era, before Red Bull’s recent challenge. Despite changes, with George Russell now teamed with rising talent Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes remains a top contender.

2024

A challenging year with inconsistent W15 performance, despite two wins each for George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. The season started with the shocking news of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari for the next season.

2023

For the first time since 2011, Mercedes didn’t win a Grand Prix. The W14 showed limited improvement initially, but development helped them secure second place in the championship, surpassing Ferrari in the final race.

2022

New regulations reshuffled the grid, and the W13 wasn’t as competitive, placing Mercedes behind Red Bull and Ferrari. George Russell secured their only victory, outperforming Lewis Hamilton, who experienced his first winless F1 season.

2021

Mercedes faced their toughest challenge in the turbo-hybrid era. Lewis Hamilton narrowly lost the driver’s title to Max Verstappen of Red Bull, despite winning eight races. However, the team still managed to clinch their eighth consecutive constructors’ championship.

2020

Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton reached new heights. Hamilton achieved a record-equaling seventh drivers’ title, winning 11 races and breaking numerous records, even after missing a race due to Covid-19. Valtteri Bottas added two more wins, securing another dominant double championship for the Silver Arrows.
