Mercedes Narcisse stands as a dedicated public servant representing the 46th Council District in Brooklyn. Serving neighborhoods including Bergen Beach, Canarsie, Flatlands, Georgetown, Gerritsen Beach, Marine Park, Mill Basin, Mill Island, and Sheepshead Bay, Council Member Narcisse brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to her community. As a registered nurse and Chair of the New York City Council’s Committee on Hospitals, her expertise extends beyond policy-making into practical, community-focused action within Brooklyn. Born in Saint Marc, Haiti, Mercedes Brooklyn’s journey to public service is rooted in the immigrant experience. Migrating to Brooklyn as a teenager, she pursued her education within the New York City public school system and is a proud graduate of the City University of New York (CUNY). Before her successful election to the City Council in November 2021, Mercedes was deeply embedded in the Brooklyn community as a registered nurse and a small business owner. This background provided her with firsthand insights into the needs and aspirations of the residents she now serves.
