Berlin – Today marks the 15th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin, opening its doors on September 10, 2008. Operated by Anschutz Entertainment Group Operations GmbH, the venue has since become a cornerstone of Berlin’s entertainment scene, hosting 1,992 events and welcoming over 18.1 million visitors. Throughout its history, the Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin has showcased a dazzling array of performances, from international music icons to thrilling sports competitions and spectacular shows, creating countless unforgettable memories for attendees.
Ole Hertel, Vice President and Managing Director of Anschutz Entertainment Group Operations GmbH, reflects on this milestone: “15 years of Mercedes-Benz Arena signifies 15 years filled with incredible highlights and moments that will last a lifetime. The Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin has experienced a particularly vibrant resurgence after a period of reduced activity due to the pandemic. With restrictions lifted, the pent-up demand for live entertainment resulted in an exceptionally busy period. In the twelve months spanning from July 2022 to June 2023, the arena hosted an impressive 192 events, marking its most intensive phase in its 15-year history.

Looking back to its grand opening, the Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin launched with a spectacular series of concerts. Metallica (Sept. 12), Herbert Grönemeyer (Sept. 13), and Coldplay (Sept. 15) graced the stage in succession, alongside the Eisbären Berlin ice hockey team’s triumphant 11-0 home victory on September 14. This sensational opening weekend set the stage for the arena’s remarkable journey over the past 15 years.
