The Mercedes-benz Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa is set to embark on a fresh chapter in its history as the city announces a new partnership to manage talent booking. This marks the first change in management since the venue, originally named the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, opened its doors in 2011.
For over 13 years, Birmingham-based Red Mountain Entertainment has been the driving force behind the amphitheater’s event calendar, famously launching the venue with a performance by the Avett Brothers. They have consistently brought a diverse range of shows to the Tuscaloosa stage, contributing significantly to the amphitheater’s growth and reputation. However, as the contract with Red Mountain Entertainment approaches its expiration on December 31st, the Tuscaloosa City Council has decided to explore a new direction.

Mayor Walt Maddox acknowledged the pivotal role of Red Mountain Entertainment in the amphitheater’s development. “Red Mountain Entertainment has played a vital role in the creation and growth of the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater,” he stated. “Their dedication and efforts have laid a strong foundation for us to build upon.” This transition comes at a time of significant investment in the venue. Recently rebranded as the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater to honor the city’s strong ties with Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, the amphitheater is also undergoing a planned 10-year, three-phase upgrade to enhance the visitor experience and modernize the facilities.
Looking ahead, the City Council has unanimously approved a new agreement with Danny Wimmer Presents Talent Services, LLC, signaling an exciting future for the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater. Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) is a prominent name in the entertainment industry, known for producing large-scale music festivals and events across the nation. This partnership is expected to inject new energy and opportunities into the venue’s programming.
“Over the past 13 years, the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater has become a vital part of our City’s legacy and a hub for economic development,” Mayor Maddox commented on the new collaboration. “We are excited to continue to grow this legacy with Danny Wimmer Presents as we strive to bring in new talent and create unforgettable experiences for our community.” With this change, the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater is poised to attract an even wider array of performers and solidify its position as a premier entertainment destination in Tuscaloosa, promising exciting times ahead for music lovers and the local economy.
