Electric Mobility, M Performance DNA
The raw power of the BMW iX M60 translates to breathtaking acceleration, launching from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds. This vehement power delivery, characteristic of its M-specific electric drive, remains consistent even at high speeds, ensuring relentless acceleration all the way to its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Despite its impressive performance, the BMW ix m60 also boasts a practical range of up to 561 kilometers in the WLTP test cycle, striking a balance between thrilling dynamics and everyday usability.
The arrival of the BMW iX M60 marks a pivotal moment in the 50-year history of BMW M GmbH. Joining the BMW i4 M50, it signifies BMW M’s bold entry into the electrified performance car segment. The iX M60’s electric all-wheel drive system, known for its extreme power and precise control, works in harmony with the highly responsive actuator-based wheel slip limitation and advanced suspension technology. This includes an M-specifically tuned dual-axle air suspension with automatic level control, ensuring the hallmark BMW M driving experience – agile, precise, and exhilarating.
Manufactured at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing alongside other iX variants, the BMW ix m60 made its global debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2022. Its worldwide market launch commenced in June 2022, bringing electric M performance to a global audience.
Engineered for Electric Performance
The fundamental vehicle concept of the BMW iX provides an ideal platform for a high-performance, all-electric SAV. The body structure, design principles, and suspension setup are meticulously engineered to combine exceptional ride comfort with dynamic, sporty handling. The intelligent material mix, featuring an aluminum spaceframe concept and a carbon cage with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof, side, and rear sections, achieves both increased rigidity and optimized weight. BMW M GmbH has a long-standing tradition of utilizing CFRP for weight reduction, dating back to the BMW M3 CSL in 2003. This pioneering use of CFRP in large-scale automotive production continues in many current BMW M high-performance sports cars, where a standard carbon fiber roof and other CFRP components are integral to intelligent lightweight construction.
Aerodynamic efficiency further enhances the BMW ix m60’s performance, range, and overall efficiency. In Sport Mode, it achieves a drag coefficient (Cd value) of just 0.26. Positioning the high-voltage battery low in the underbody lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity, contributing to agile handling and balanced axle load distribution. This design ensures the BMW iX M60 delivers not only breathtakingly spontaneous acceleration but also exceptional cornering dynamics and precisely controllable handling, even in highly dynamic driving situations. The result is a driving experience that feels both confident and nimble at all speeds, with clear feedback provided to the driver in true BMW M style, even when pushing the vehicle to its physical limits.
Pioneering Technology and Digital Integration
The BMW iX M60 represents the first BMW M automobile built upon the BMW Group’s advanced future modular system, integrating seamlessly with innovations in automated driving, operation, connectivity, and digital services. This integration creates a premium mobility experience that sets a new benchmark in its competitive class. The completely redesigned interior architecture further enhances this experience, offering an exceptionally spacious and modern environment.
The BMW ix m60 boasts the most comprehensive array of standard driver assistance systems ever offered by BMW, alongside numerous groundbreaking innovations. A next-generation sensor suite, a new software stack, and a powerful computing platform provide substantial potential for continuous advancements in automated driving and parking functionalities.
The BMW iDrive system in the ix m60 elevates the driving experience, centered around the intuitive BMW Curved Display and Operating System 8. The system emphasizes touch functionality and voice communication via the enhanced BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. M-specific enhancements further underscore the vehicle’s performance character, including M badges in the instrument display and the debut of BMW IconicSounds Electric with distinct M sound profiles, intensifying the electric driving experience. New My Modes, “Relax” and “Expressive,” expand the selection to five, allowing for personalized driving experiences. BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades enable over-the-air installation of new and improved vehicle functions. Navigation is enhanced by the cloud-based BMW Maps system with Augmented Reality Video, ensuring precise and efficient route guidance. The BMW iX also pioneers data transmission using the 5G mobile standard and integrates personal mobile phone accounts into the vehicle via the Personal eSIM.
Distinctive Design and Luxurious Interior
The BMW iX M60’s exterior design is characterized by powerful SAV proportions, minimalist surface design, and precise detailing, creating a distinctive and commanding presence. Blue-painted brake calipers with the M logo, BMW Individual Titanium Bronze Exterior Line accents, and M logos in High Gloss Black/Titanium Bronze on the front side panels and rear clearly signal the vehicle’s high-performance capabilities. Optional 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels in an exclusive Titanium Bronze design further enhance its visual appeal.
Inside, the spacious, high-quality, and innovative interior design promotes focused driving while providing exceptional travel comfort and progressive luxury. Multifunction seats with integrated headrests, the expansive BMW Curved Display, the hexagonal steering wheel, and the anthracite-colored roof liner contribute to an engaging and pleasurable driving environment. The absence of a traditional center tunnel maximizes legroom and storage space, while the center console is styled as a high-quality furniture piece. The optional Suite interior elevates luxury with natural leather seats, instrument panel, center console, and door trim surfaces, complemented by Gold Bronze accents and controls.
The BMW iX M60’s exclusive character is further reinforced by its comprehensive standard equipment, including BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Natural Interaction for speech and gesture control, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, BMW Laser Light, Comfort Access, active seat ventilation for driver and front passenger, and the Heat Comfort Package.
Sustainable Mobility, Premium Responsibility
BMW i’s vision of forward-looking premium mobility prioritizes responsible resource management throughout the entire value chain and minimizing the CO2 footprint across the vehicle’s lifecycle. This holistic approach is integral to the development, supply chain, and production of the BMW iX M60. The BMW i brand is committed to both ecological and social sustainability.
The BMW Group sources cobalt and lithium for the high-voltage batteries directly from controlled sources in Australia and Morocco, ensuring ethical and sustainable procurement. The electric motor design eliminates the need for rare earth metals in the rotors. Furthermore, the company procures aluminum produced using electricity from solar energy plants.
Manufacturing of the BMW iX M60 and its battery cells relies on 100 percent green electricity. The resource-efficient production further incorporates a high proportion of secondary aluminum and recycled plastic. The interior features FSC-certified wood, leather tanned with olive tree leaf extract, and other natural materials. Recycled fishing nets are utilized as raw material for floor coverings and floor mats.
