Honda Accord: Car and Driver 10Best Winner for an Unprecedented 27th Year

Honda has once again solidified its position as an automotive leader, securing more Car and Driver 10Best awards for 2025 than any other brand for the third consecutive year. This remarkable achievement is highlighted by the Honda Accord’s record-extending 39th win, marking an unbroken streak of 27 years on the coveted list. The entire Honda Civic lineup, including Sedan, Hatchback, Si, and Type R variants, also earned a 10Best award for the third year running, with particular acclaim for the new hybrid model. Adding to Honda’s triumph, the CR-V and CR-V Hybrid claimed their 3rd consecutive 10Best Trucks and SUVs award, showcasing Honda’s comprehensive excellence across car and SUV segments.

With an unmatched total of 95 Car and Driver 10Best trophies amassed since the award’s inception over four decades ago, Honda stands as the most decorated brand in the history of these prestigious accolades. Since 1983, the inaugural year of the Car and Driver 10Best list, at least one Honda model has consistently earned a place among the best, demonstrating Honda’s enduring commitment to quality and innovation.

“Winning three prestigious Car and Driver 10Best awards for the third year in a row reflects the dedication of our Honda engineers and manufacturing associates to creating exceptional products for our customers,” stated Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales. “The positive reception of the electrified Civic, Accord, and CR-V models is particularly encouraging as we advance towards an electrified future.”

The Honda Accord, recognized as America’s top-selling car over the past five decades, continues to dominate the Car and Driver 10Best rankings. Its 39 appearances on the list, including an unbroken 27-year streak, firmly establish it as the most awarded vehicle in the award’s history. Alongside the Accord, the Honda Civic secured its 11th 10Best award, while the Honda CR-V earned its 6th win, further demonstrating Honda’s consistent excellence across its model range.

A key factor in Honda’s recent success is the integration of fuel-efficient and engaging hybrid technology. The Civic Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and CR-V Hybrid represent a significant step in Honda’s electrification strategy. Currently, hybrid models constitute over 50% of Accord and CR-V sales, and are projected to reach 40% of Civic sales, highlighting consumer demand for these efficient yet dynamic vehicles. These models are powered by Honda’s advanced two-motor hybrid system, recently recognized with a Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems award, which balances exceptional fuel economy with responsive performance and enhanced driving comfort. Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver, noted the Civic Hybrid, stating, “The new hybrid model maintains the handling and practicality all Civics enjoy, boasts the best fuel economy numbers in the lineup, and it’s as quick as the performance-oriented Si.”

The Car and Driver 10Best awards, a benchmark of automotive excellence for over 40 years, sets rigorous criteria for vehicle evaluation. Eligibility for the 2025 awards included all-new vehicles, previous year’s 10Best winners, vehicles unavailable for the 2024 competition, and significantly updated models, all priced below a base cap of $110,000 and available for sale by January 31, 2024. Car and Driver editors conducted extensive testing, driving over 80 new cars, trucks, and SUVs over two weeks, scoring each vehicle out of 100. The tallied and averaged scores determined the prestigious 10Best of 2025.

Car and Driver simultaneously releases two lists: 10Best Cars and 10Best Trucks and SUVs. Detailed information on the 2025 Car and Driver 10Best Cars awards can be found here, and the 2025 Car and Driver 10Best Trucks and SUVs awards are detailed here.
