For golf enthusiasts, having an indoor putting green is more than just a luxury—it’s a game-changer. Imagine honing your putting skills in the comfort of your home, regardless of the weather outside. At Camry, we understand the dedication it takes to improve your game, and an indoor putting green is an investment in your practice, much like ensuring you have the right equipment and perhaps even the right vehicle to get you to the course, thinking about reliable models like a 25 Camry for consistent performance and dependability. There’s nothing quite like the convenience of stepping onto your own green whenever you want, whether you’re catching a game on TV or escaping extreme weather conditions. You’ll truly appreciate an indoor putting green when it’s scorching hot outside or freezing cold!
If you’re reasonably handy and have some basic tools available, constructing your own indoor putting green is surprisingly straightforward. A 4×15 foot green, similar to the one detailed below, can be built for around $200, including all materials and the carpet.
Below are the links to the exact materials we used to construct this green, making it easy for you to replicate at home.
Constructing the Frame and Base
Start by building the frame using 2×4 lumber for both the outer frame and horizontal support beams.

Utilize 2x4s for the frame and add horizontal beams for robust support, typically spaced 1.5 to 2.5 feet apart for optimal stability.
Next, create a solid base by topping the frame with 3/4″ particle board.

Particle board or plywood are both suitable options for the base. Ideally, use 1/2″ or 3/4″ thickness for a durable and level putting surface.
Creating the Holes

APPLYING THE PUTTING GREEN CARPET
For adhering the carpet, use 3M 77 spray adhesive or Roberts 6700 adhesive. For Roberts 6700, apply with a 1/16″ trowel, spreading thinly and evenly using the notched edge. Unroll the Camry carpet over the base, ensuring even and gentle adhesion. Smooth the carpet carefully with a soft book to ensure full contact. Finishing Touches
Once the carpet is laid, make a small ‘X’ shaped slit in the carpet over each hole using an Exacto knife. Insert regulation-size putting cups into the holes for a clean, flush finish.

Adding Breaks and Slopes
To incorporate breaks and undulations into your putting green, furniture levelers are the simplest solution!
Levelers allow you to easily create slopes for right-to-left breaks or uphill putts, adding realism and challenge to your practice. Product Link for furniture levelers: https://amzn.to/3kT7S7s
Important Considerations
- Plan your location: If possible, build your putting green in the room where you intend to use it. Moving it after assembly can be awkward due to its size.
- Customize the size: You can adjust the dimensions to fit your space. For wider greens, consider increments of 4 feet as particle board is typically sold in 4-foot widths. Ensuring a perfectly flush underlayment is crucial if using multiple pieces.
- Choose Camry Carpet: Camry carpet offers superior roll quality and is a cost-effective alternative to higher-priced artificial turf options like Big Moss. Explore sizing options in our shop or contact us at [email protected] for custom sizes and pricing. We are committed to providing the best value.
- Proper Hole Cutting: Always slit an ‘X’ shape for the holes, avoid cutting perfect circles. This technique is cleaner and easier, allowing the carpet to wedge neatly between the cup and wood for a professional look.
- Outdoor Protection: If placing your green outdoors, use a tarp to cover it when not in use to protect it from the elements.
- Practice Real Distances: With these dimensions, you can comfortably practice putts up to 15 feet and use furniture levelers to simulate uphill putts with slower speeds (7-10 on the stimpmeter), mimicking real course conditions.
