The ACE structure is engineered to protect occupants and improve crash compatibility between vehicles of different sizes. The 11th-generation Accord is designed to achieve top safety ratings, including IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and NHTSA 5-star ratings, and to meet new and anticipated future crash test standards.

The updated ACE structure incorporates high-strength steel, a robust upper member, and optimized A-pillar, side frame, and lower firewall structures to route crash energy around the cabin, especially in oblique impacts. Side impact protection is enhanced with stiffer B-pillars, side sills, door stiffening beams, and rear wheelhouses.

Advanced Airbag and Seatbelt Technologies: The 2023 Accord features next-generation Honda front airbags designed to reduce head rotation in collisions, particularly oblique collisions. The driver’s side airbag uses a tuck sewing structure, and the passenger-side airbag uses a three-chamber design to cradle the head and minimize rotation. Standard airbag technology includes side curtain airbags, side impact airbags, front knee airbags, and, for the first time, rear-passenger side impact airbags. Updated seatbelt technology includes front seatbelt outer lap belt pretensioners with load limiters and rear outboard pretensioners and load limiters, along with a rear seatbelt reminder.

Manufacturing Excellence: Built in America

Honda marked 40 years of automobile production in Ohio in 2022, a milestone that coincides with 40 years of Accord production in America. The 2023 Accord continues to be manufactured at the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, reaffirming Honda’s commitment to building products close to its customers. Honda has produced over 12.5 million Accords in Ohio since U.S. production began in 1982.
