Honda Dominates Car and Driver 10Best Awards for 2025, Cementing Leadership

Honda has once again proven its automotive prowess, securing more coveted Car and Driver 10Best awards for 2025 than any other brand. This marks the third consecutive year Honda has achieved this feat, reinforcing its commitment to quality, innovation, and driver satisfaction. The prestigious accolades were bestowed upon the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, and Honda CR-V, across both the 10Best Cars and 10Best Trucks and SUVs categories.

This year’s wins elevate Honda’s total Car and Driver 10Best trophy count to an impressive 95 – the highest of any brand in the award’s illustrious 40-year history. Remarkably, Honda has consistently featured on the annual 10Best list since its inception in 1983, a testament to the brand’s enduring excellence.

Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “Winning three prestigious Car and Driver 10Best awards for the third year in a row reflects the dedication of our Honda engineers and production teams who are passionate about creating exceptional vehicles for our customers. The positive reception of our electrified Civic, Accord, and CR-V models is particularly encouraging as we advance towards an electrified future.”

The Honda Accord, a perennial favorite, has etched its name in the Car and Driver 10Best annals with an unprecedented 39 wins, including an unbroken streak of 27 years. The Honda Civic boasts its 11th 10Best award, while the Honda CR-V secures its sixth win, further solidifying Honda’s dominance across various vehicle segments.

The recognition extends beyond just traditional powertrains, highlighting Honda’s successful foray into electrification. The fuel-efficient and engaging Civic hybrid, Accord hybrid, and CR-V hybrid models are pivotal to Honda’s electrification strategy. Currently, hybrid-electric trims constitute over 50% of Accord and CR-V sales, and are projected to make up 40% of Civic sales, showcasing consumer embrace of Honda’s hybrid technology.

These award-winning vehicles are powered by Honda’s advanced two-motor hybrid system, celebrated for its optimal balance of efficiency, dynamic performance, and a refined driving experience. Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver, lauded the Civic hybrid, noting, “The new hybrid model upholds the acclaimed handling and practicality of all Civics, delivers the best fuel economy in the lineup, and matches the performance-oriented Si in acceleration.”

The Rigorous Car and Driver 10Best Selection Process

For over four decades, the Car and Driver 10Best list has stood as a benchmark of automotive excellence. Eligibility for the 2025 awards included all-new vehicles, previous year’s 10Best winners, vehicles absent from the 2024 competition, and significantly updated models. All contenders had to meet a base price cap of $110,000 and be available for sale by January 31, 2024.

Car and Driver editors rigorously evaluated over 80 new cars, trucks, and SUVs meeting these criteria over a two-week period. Each vehicle was meticulously scored from zero to 100, with the tallied and averaged scores determining the coveted 10Best of 2025. Car and Driver concurrently releases the 10Best Cars and 10Best Trucks and SUVs lists, providing comprehensive recognition across vehicle types.

American-Made Quality

Adding to Honda’s achievement is the fact that all three 10Best-winning models are manufactured in North America, underscoring the company’s long-standing commitment to local production.

  • The Honda Accord, now in its 11th generation, is produced at the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, where over 12.8 million Accords have been manufactured since 1982.
  • The 11th-generation Civic Hatchback is built at the Honda Indiana Auto Plant, while the Civic Sedan is produced by Honda of Canada Mfg. North American Civic production exceeds 11.5 million units, with over five million originating from the United States.
  • The 6th-generation CR-V is manufactured across three North American plants, including the East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio, the Indiana Auto Plant, and Honda of Canada Mfg. Honda’s North American CR-V production surpasses 6 million units, with approximately half built in the U.S.
  • The advanced Honda two-motor hybrid-electric system powering the hybrid variants is produced at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio, while the 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine is manufactured at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio.

Honda’s consistent recognition in the Car and Driver 10Best awards underscores its dedication to producing vehicles that resonate with both critics and consumers. These accolades for the Civic, Accord, and CR-V, including their hybrid iterations, highlight Honda’s leadership in automotive excellence and its commitment to an innovative and electrified future.
