The Mercedes Benz 190e Evo Ii is an iconic vehicle, celebrated for its striking design and motorsport pedigree. As a diecast enthusiast, capturing the essence of this legend in miniature form is always a thrill. Inno64 has masterfully recreated this icon, and while their Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II model is already a standout, a simple modification can elevate it to another level. Like many collectors, I felt the urge to personalize my Inno64 Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II in street black, and for me, the perfect touch was a wheel swap.
Initially, I hesitated. The stock wheels on the Inno64 Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II, with their six-branch design, are undeniably attractive and faithful to the original car’s aesthetic. However, the allure of the OZ-style wheels, also offered by Inno64, proved too strong to resist. This decision was further solidified when comparing it to my high-end Error404 resin model of the Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II. While the Error404 model boasts photo-etched six-branch rims and superior detailing, the Inno64, even with its standard wheels, holds its own remarkably well, especially considering its more accessible price point. The comparison highlighted Inno64’s impressive craftsmanship in delivering a detailed Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II diecast at under $20, though some might argue the Error404 has a slightly exaggerated rear height.

Embarking on the wheel swap for the Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II proved to be a bit challenging. Typically, these models have a screw on the bottom for disassembly, but in this instance, the front screw refused to budge. Forced to improvise, I carefully removed the original wheels by hand, a delicate process due to the intricate details of the car. After about thirty minutes of patient work, the OZ-style wheels were finally in place. While the process wasn’t seamless, the transformation of the Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II was undeniably worth the effort.
The result is simply stunning. The OZ wheels enhance the aggressive stance and sporty character of the Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II, giving it an even more customized and dynamic appearance. Looking at the finished model, any initial hesitation about altering the original design completely vanished. This successful wheel swap brings my collection of Mercedes Benz Evolution II models to four, and it certainly fuels the desire to see even more variations of this legendary car in diecast form in the future.
